TROY, Ala. – The Troy volleyball team gears up for another in-state showdown as it heads to Montgomery on Tuesday night to take on Alabama State. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

Troy (2-3) is coming off a 3-0 loss to Cal Poly in its home opener on Saturday afternoon and looks to rebound with a win over Alabama State (3-3), who won its first three contests but is in the midst of a three-match losing streak.

Bounce Back
The Trojans are coming off back-to-back 3-0 losses and look to find their way back into the win column. Troy lost Saturday's match by a combined six points, dropping each set by two points.

Tori Hester and Amiah Butler continue to lead the way for the Troy offense, as Hester leads the team with 91 kills, while Butler is behind her with 66. Hester remains the kills and kill per set (5.06) leader in the Sun Belt. Nationally, Hester is fourth in kills per set and 47th in total kills. Butler has been efficient for Troy this season with 3.67 kills per set – third in the SBC.

The setting duo of Janelle Stuempfig and Jordan Sinness have set up the Trojan offense for success this season, as the team is averaging 13.00 kills per set, which is third in the Sun Belt. Stuempfig and Sinness are combining for 10.16 assists per set. As a team, the Trojans are second in the conference with 12.50 assists per set.

Defensively, the Trojans continue to be strong in their blocking game, as the team has posted 41.0 blocks this season (11 solo, 60 assists), ranking them sixth in the conference and third in blocks per set with 2.28. Ella Broadhead leads Troy with 16, while Amiah Butler has 15, and Tori Hester and Sydney Austin have 13.

Jaci Mesa leads the Trojans in digs with 55, while Hester is behind her with 53. Hester led the team with 18 last week, including nine on Saturday against the Mustangs.

Scouting Alabama State
The Hornets are led by Kaylen Hines, who has 53 kills this season. Hines also leads the team with 2.65 kills per set and 3.08 points per set. Alabama State has five players with 28 kills or more and two players with 40 or more.
