Men’s Golf Ties for Seventh at Graeme McDowell Invitational

GADSDEN, Ala. – Troy shot 4-over in Tuesday's final round of the Graeme McDowell Invitational and finished in a tie for seventh place, while Lee Poppell finished the week tied for 10^th place at 6-under.

Nick Fowlkes fired Troy's only round in the red during the final round at the Limestone Springs Golf Course, as he carded four birdies and two bogeys to finish 2-under for the day and 1-under for the week, good for 29^th place.

Poppell, who finished in the 60s the first two rounds, shot 1-over on Tuesday, with a trio of birdies, while Jake Springer tied for 25^th place at 2-under after shooting even in the final round, thanks to four birdies on the day.

ULM and North Alabama tied for the team title at 30-under par for the week, while Lipscomb (-28), Jacksonville State (-26) and Louisiana Tech (-23) rounded out the top five. Troy ended the week in a tie for seventh place with host-UAB at 10-under.

After shooting 4-over on the front nine, Pablo Gracia rebounded with four birdies on the back to finish the final nine holes at 1-under, pushing his overall card to 4-over, good for a tie for 47^th place. Jason Quinlan rounded out the field for the Trojans in a tie for 62^nd at 9-over. Playing in his first tournament, freshman Grant Yerger tied for 52^nd at 5-over after playing as an individual.

Troy will take a couple weeks off before traveling to Little Rock, Ark., and the Chenel Country Club for the Little Rock Invitational.
