Men’s Golf Heads to Little Rock for Everett Buick GMC Classic

TROY, Ala. – Following a three-week break, the Troy men's golf team returns to action this week at the Everett Buick GMC Classic, hosted by Little Rock at the 7,115-yard, par-72 Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Ark.
The Trojans are coming off a middle-of-the-pack finish at the Graeme McDowell Invitational their last time out after winning the Argent Financial Classic to open the season. Troy enters its third tournament of the year with a 21-6-1 head-to-head record through its first two events.
Nick Fowlkes and Lee Poppell are both under-par on the year through six rounds, with Fowlkes leading the way with a -1.50 score vs. par and all six of his rounds counting towards the team card. He has played in the red in five of his six rounds this season.
Poppell led Troy in the last event, tying for 10th place at 6-under thanks to three rounds under-par and two in the 60s, which lowest his season score vs. par to -0.50. He's been Troy's best golfer in the opening rounds, playing the pair to a 70.5 score this season.
As a team, Troy is averaging a 4-under 284 in the opening round thanks to a 9-under 279 to open the Graeme McDowell Invitational. In total, the Trojans have played half of their team rounds under par this season.
Joining Fowlkes and Poppell in the lineup will be Jake Springer (72.83) and Pablo Gracia (73.17) for the third time this season, while Grant Yerger will make his lineup debut after playing as an individual at the Graeme McDowell Invitational, where he shot 5-over after opening with a 1-over 36-hole total.
Teams are set to play a shotgun starting Monday at 8:30 a.m.
