TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball teams look to revamp its Fab 4, 22-12, 15-3 SBC roster from 2023-24 by signing six transfers in Jamirica Roberson, Briana Peguero, Ashley Baez, Emani Jenkins, Khila Morris and Emma Imevbore.
The six signings look to fill the holes left by seniors Ja'Mia Hollings, Tai'Sheka Porchia, Makayia Hallmon and Nia Daniel and joins two previous signings in Adriana Jones and Fortuna Ngnawo.
Jamirica Roberson | Forward | Montgomery, Ala. | Bishop State CC
Troy's first signee comes from Bishop State CC, where she earned Region 22 All-South Second Team in 2023 and ACCC First Team in 2024. Roberson averaged 13.4 points and 11.1 rebounds, scoring in double-figures in 21 games and rebounding 10-plus in 19. The Alabama native dominated the boards at Coastal Alabama-South, where she finished with 10 offensive rebounds and eight on the defensive end. Her season-high in points came against Gadsden State with 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting. At 6-2, she also played 24 games in her freshman campaign, posting 12.2 points on 49.6 percent shooting and 9.1 rebounds. Six games into her tenure, she produced 33 points on 14 made field goals for an 82-57 victory against Lawson State CC.
"Jamirica is an athletic post who will be depended on to be one of the best rebounding posts in the conference," Rigby said. "She has good size and athleticism and a natural knack and timing to take possession of the ball off the glass."
Briana Peguero | Guard | Houston, Texas | Jersey Village HS (Mercer)
Peguero comes to Troy after competing at Mercer for the 2023-24 season, starting in 23 of her 32 games for 10.1 points, 1.4 assists and 2.3 rebounds. She hit a career-high of 19 against Marist on 8-of-20 shooting with three triples. Before Mercer, Peguero spent two seasons with Trinity Valley CC, earning Region XIV All-Conference and All-Region after leading her team to a 34-3 record, an NJCAA Region XIV Championship and a National Runner-Up. She accumulated 759 points in her Trinity Valley tenure and netted 50 triples in her sophomore season.
"Bri will boost our roster in many ways," Rigby said. "When the ball is in her hands as a point guard, she is a calm decision-maker who has a knack for finding scorers. When playing the shooting guard position, she is a scoring threat at all three levels. She is also a skilled, determined defender who can be trusted to get stops."
Ashley Baez | Guard | Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic | Florida Gulf Coast
The Santo Domingo native played seven games with Florida Gulf Coast last season, erupting in her first game against Gardner-Webb with 15 points on 4-of-7 from the field and 6-of-8 at the line in 13 minutes. Baez caught the nation's attention at Chipola, where she started all 25 games and buried 79 triples. She led the team with 65 steals and averaged 21.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists as an Indian. Her career-high came with 43 points against FSW and earned NJCAA Player of the Week after netting 40 points against DME Academy before dropping 37 against Hillsborough CC – finished a two-time FCSAA/Region VIII Player of the Week.
"Ashley is as much of a natural fit for our offensive system as any player at Troy," Rigby said. "She plays at a speed that is difficult for many defenders to keep up with. She has a high motor that will push our tempo on both offense and defense."
Emani Jenkins | Guard | Dallas, Texas | Trinity Valley CC
An Offensive MVP of District 12-5A in 2019 and 2020 and an NJCAA Top 40 All-Star (2023), Jenkins joins the Trojans after two seasons with Trinity Valley CC. In her first season, she started eight games and played 32 on 15 minutes per game. The 5-11 guard scored 7.8 points on 38.3 percent from the field, 36.4 from deep and 71 at the charity stripe. Jenkins followed it in 2023-24 with a career-high 13.6 points, shooting a whopping 89.3 percent at the free throw line. Her career-high came on Feb. 21 last season against Coastal Bend College on 36 points – shot 13-of-23 from the field and 10-of-18 at the line.
"Emani is a guard with great size and always demands her defender's attention when she is on offense," Rigby said. "She was a top player at the 2023, and we need her to come in right away and contribute with her three-point shooting as well as her ability to be physical with guards when getting to the rim to score."
Khila Morris | Guard | Bronx, N.Y. | Frederick Douglas Academy (Union)
Morris dominated her time at Union, earning GSAC Player of the Year, GSAC Player of the Week (4x), NJCAA Region 19 First Team All-Region and NJCAA D-II All-American First Team to lead the program to be crowned Region 19 Champions. She led Region 19 in field goal percentage (50.9), free throws made (93) and assists (154). The guard also showed her ability on all levels with 16.1 points and 7.2 rebounds. The Bronx native opened her career against Montgomery College, leading her team to an 89-85 victory in 37 minutes, posting 32 points on 11-of-17 from the field and 9-of-10 at the line – ended the season with nine straight games in double-figures.
"Khila is the third 2024 NJCAA All-American to sign in this class (Adrianna Jones and Fortuna Ngnawo both signed in the early signing period), and we know her talent and skill will make an immediate impact," Rigby said. "She is a player who has a great feel for the game. She delivers the ball and scores the ball equally well. She is serious about improving and winning, and I can't wait to get started with Khila in a Troy uniform."
Emma Imevbore | Forward | London, England | King Henry Secondary School (Arkansas State)
At 6-4, Imevbore closes out signing day for the Trojans after playing with Sun Belt foe Arkansas State for 18 games and made one start against Southern Miss – averaged 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 points. Before that, Imevbore attended Lamar for two years, playing 9.5 minutes to score 3.8 points and seize 4.0 rebounds while shooting 49.3 percent. Imevbore also played for the London Thunder from 2018-20, collecting three consecutive MVP awards – averaged a double-double with 37 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks to boost – and took home 2019-2020 NBL D-II Women South Team of the Year.
"Emma offers the imposing size that we have needed in our program," head coach Chanda Rigby said. "She will contribute as a rim protector on defense, a natural rebounder, and a back-to-the-basket post presence that can score in several ways around the rim."
