Women’s Golf Maintains Leaderboard Standing on Day Two of SBC Championship

POINT CLEAR, Ala. – On a day where scores were high across the golf course, Troy shot a 24-over par 312 as a team in Tuesday's second round of the Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship. The Trojans are in 11thplace heading into Wednesday's final round.
Bruna Roqueta led the Trojans for a second straight day as she carded one birdie on the par-5 fifth en route to a 4-over 76. She is tied for 28th place overall at 7-over par, while Alyssa Mercado climbed a pair of spots into a tie for 38th place after shooting 77 for the second straight day, with three birdies, all on par-5 offerings.
Troy is 2-under as a team on the par-5 holes through the first 36 holes, the sixth best in the field, while Mercado's 4-under on the par-5 holes is tied for second best in the field and Roqueta is a stroke behind at 3-under. The Trojans have struggled with finding birdies throughout the week, with just a combined 18 from its lineup through two rounds.
Texas State leapfrogged ULM for the team lead after the Warhawks shot 15-over par on the day compared to a 6-over by the Bobcats. Georgia Southern and Old Dominion hold down the two other spots for match play, with Marshall two shots back in fifth and Arkansas State three shots back of a top-four finish.
The average score on the course rose nearly two strokes from Monday's opening round of 76.63 to 78.11 on Tuesday.
Manya Saini matched her opening round tally with another 78 on Tuesday as she fell a couple spots into a tie for 46th place, Katelynn Altese slipped into 55th place after shooting 10-over and Laura Fangmeyer moved up three spots into 58th place after shooting 9-over for the round; she shot 45 on the front nine but rebounded to shot 36 on the back.
Troy will play Wednesday's final round with App State and South Alabama, with the first group teeing off from No. 10 at 8:45 a.m.
