Women’s Golf Closes out Sun Belt Championship

POINT CLEAR, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team closed out its season Wednesday, shooting its best round of the week as the Trojans fired a 10-over 298 in Wednesday's finale at the Sun Belt Championship at the Lakewood Golf Course. Troy finished in 11^th place as a team, while Bruna Roqueta paced the Trojans individually, tying for 31^st overall.

Alyssa Mercado carded the low round of the week for the Trojans, shooting a 1-over 73 on Wednesday, as she finished with a 1-under 35 on her back nine. She made the turn at 2-over, but responded with three birdies on holes one, four and seven to pull her card within a stroke of par; she finished the week tied for 35^th place.

Roqueta added five more birdies to her card on Wednesday to push her total for the week to eight, two behind Mercado's team-best 10. She made the turn at 1-over with three birdies on her front nine and added two more on the back as she finished the day at 3-over and the week tied for 31^st place at 10-over par.

Texas State ran away with the stroke play portion of the Sun Belt Championship, finishing 16 shots ahead of Georgia Southern, while ULM and Old Dominion rounded out the top four teams that qualified for Thursday's match play.

Manya Saini moved up four spots on the leaderboard into 42^nd place after shooting 76 on Wednesday, her best round of the week. She carded a birdie on the par-3 17^th and added two birdies on the back of the course, both on par-5 holes.

Katelynn Altese climbed nine spots into a tie for 46^th place after shooting 74 on the day with three birdies, while Laura Fangmeyer moved four spots up the leaderboard into 54^th place following a final round 78, which featured a pair of birdies.
