TROY, Ala. – Coming off its first win in four years, the Troy women's golf team is back in action Monday and Tuesday at the ULM Invitational at the par 72, 6,266-yard Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
Last week, Troy held the lead after 36 holes at the GSU Invitational, and the final round was canceled mid-morning after heavy rains pounded the course. Scores reverted back to where teams stood following the second round, leaving the Trojans with their first team victory since 2000.
Alyssa Mercado and Manya Saini led the Trojans as the pair tied for fourth place, while Bruna Roqueta tied for eighth, Katelynn Altese shot one of the four rounds under par in the event and Laura Fangmeyer recorded her seventh top-25 finish in nine events this season.
Mercado enters Troy's final tune-up before the Sun Belt Championship, leading the Trojans with a 2.96 score vs. par and four rounds in the red, while Fangmeyer and Altese have two rounds under par.
Saini, a freshman, has posted a 76.30 stroke average this spring, almost four shots better than her fall mark of 80.17, while Roquta has played three of her last four rounds within three shots of par.
