NATICTOCHES, La. – Northwestern State limited Troy to a season-low three hits as the Demons defeated the Trojans, 6-3, in game two of the three-game non-conference series Saturday at Brown-Stroud Stadium.

The Demons (4-7) held Troy without a hit for six innings before a Will Butcher solo home run in the ninth – his third of the season. Blake Sutton doubled home a run in the second inning after Tremayne Cobb Jr. plated the game's first run with a ground out the at-bat before to account the rest of Troy's offense.

Northwestern State tied the game in the home half of the second on a 2-run double by Colin Rains and took the lead in the fifth, pushing three runs across the plate. The first run crossed after Reese Lipoma got caught in a rundown between first and second, allowing Cole Hill to score after he led off the inning with a single.

Following a walk and a single, Daniel Burroway plated a run with a double and a Demon sac fly pushed their lead out to 5-2. The Demons added an insurance run in the sixth after a pair of Troy errors in the frame, one to move the runner up 90 feet and the other to allow the run to score.

Dawson Flowers (1-0) worked a career-best six innings, allowing two runs – one earned – on two hits to pick up the win for Northwestern State. Aidan Newton closed out the final three innings for his first save of the year. Burroway and Balin Valentine led the Demons with a pair of hits each.

Dylan King (0-1) was charged with the loss for the Trojans (9-3) after allowing a pair of runs in a third of an inning in relief of Logan Ross, who allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts in four innings.

Troy will look to salvage a game in the three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Trojans will send senior Clete Hartzog (2-0, 0.96) to the mound, while the Demons will counter with Dylan Marionneaux (0-1, 1.29).
