Women's Golf Set for Spring Break Shootout

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a pair of second-place finishes to open the spring season, the Troy women's golf team travels to the Lake Jovita Golf Club in Florida for the Spring Break Shootout, hosted by Western Kentucky.

Troy finished second two weeks ago at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate after opening the spring finishing second at the ASU Spring Classic, both on Robert Trent Jones courses. The trip south pits Troy against a 15-team field at the par-71, 6,056-yard golf course.

Laura Fangmeyer has led Troy at both spring events, finishing third in the opener and tying for seventh last time out, closing play with a 2-under 70 for her first round under par this season. Her 75.20 stroke average this spring leads the way for the Trojans, while her 3.55 score vs. par for the year is second on the squad.

Alyssa Mercado leads the Trojans on the year with a 3.55 score vs. par and with three rounds under par. She has turned in a pair of top-20 finishes this spring, including tying for 13^th place at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, thanks to a 2-under 70 in the opening round.

Head coach Randy Keck is rolling with his same lineup from Huntsville, which turned in the third-best 36-hole score of the year.

Manya Saini has a pair of top-25 finishes on her tally this spring, including tying for seventh at the ASU Spring Classic. She enters the week with a 79.00 stroke average for the year but has been better in the spring with a 77.60 mark. Katelynn Altese tied for 26^th the last time out and carries a 5.67 score vs. par into this week's event, while Bruna Roqueta placed sixth in the spring opener and is 5.41 for the year.
