Troy, Baker No-Hits Alabama State

TROY, Ala. – Troy senior Libby Baker had a game of her career, throwing a no-hitter in the circle and collecting three hits, with a double and an RBI at the plate as Troy blanked Alabama State, 10-0, in five innings Wednesday night at the Troy Softball Complex.
Baker's no-hitter was the first by a Troy pitcher since assistant coach Leanna Johnson no-hit UT Arlington in 2022. Baker (3-0) struck out six and walked one over her five innings of work in the circle.
Troy (5-2) exploded for seven runs in the second inning, paced by a two-run single from Jade Sinness, as the Trojans sent 11 batters to the plate in the frame and recorded eight hits. Makaley Boswell, Natalie Turner, D'Aun Riggs, Anslee Finch and Audra Thompson all drove in runs in the frame.
In addition to Baker's big day at the plate, Riggs and Thompson each had a pair of hits for the Trojans, while Sinness finished with three RBIs and Cassidy Boltz picked up the first triple of her Troy career.
Sinness drew a bases-loaded walk in the third to push Troy's lead out to 8-0 and Taylor McKinney drove home a run with a grounder to second one batter later. Baker capped the scoring for the Trojans with an RBI single in the fourth after Boltz's leadoff triple down the line in right.
Charity Bibbs (0-3) took the loss in the circle for the Hornets (1-3) after she allowed seven runs on eight hits over two innings of work.

"I've been a part of a no-hitter a few times in my career, but it's super special for Libby Baker to get the no-hitter here at Troy. As the head coach here at Troy, this is my first experience with someone to accomplish that feat here, so I'm excited about that. We also hit the ball well tonight, so I'm excited about that too."
Notes
- Libby Baker's no-hitter is the first since 2022, when Leanna Johnson tossed one against UTA.
- This is the first time the Trojans have gone to five innings this season.
- With 10 hits against Alabama State, this is the second double-digit hit game the Trojans have had this season. The first came against North Alabama with 13.
- With the win, this becomes the second-largest win margin at 10-0 in the Eric Newell era. The first being 11 runs against North Florida last year.
