Four Trojans Earn Academic All-District Honors

TROY, Ala. – Troy volleyball landed four athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team as Caroline Darracott, Janelle Stuempfig, Jaci Mesa and Amiah Butler were recognized, the organization announced on Tuesday.
To be eligible for the honor, the student-athletes must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA and have appeared in 90 percent of the institution's matches or must have started in at least 66 percent of the institution's matches. The four selections were the maximum allowed under the current CSC Academic All-District guidelines.
Darracott, a senior defensive specialist from Newnan, Ga., has a 3.53 GPA and is set to graduate with a degree in communications. Darracott appeared in 26 matches this season and recorded 146 digs (1.49 per set), which was good for third on the team.
Stuempfig, a senior from Sussex, Wis., holds a 3.95 GPA while working towards a degree in biology. Stuempfig was Troy's primary setter this season and led the team with 735 assists (7.00 per set). She played a crucial role in a Troy offense that averaged 12.9 kills per set. Stuempfig finished her Troy career with 1,855 assists. She was named the 2024 Sun Belt Preseason Setter of the Year.
Mesa, a junior from Canyon Lake, Texas, has a 3.95 GPA while studying sport management. Serving as Troy's main libero, Mesa led the team with 303 digs this season (2.97 per set). Mesa also had 81 assists and 11 service aces on offense. Mesa eclipsed the 1,000-career dig mark against App State this season.
Butler, an outside hitter from Pensacola, Fla., is working towards a degree in exercise science- pre-health professions and holds a 3.57 GPA. Hitting opposite of Tori Hester, Butler finished the season second on the team in kills with 275 (3.27 per set). Butler recorded double-digit kills in 14 matches this season, while also adding 15 aces from the service line. On defense, she finished the season with 129 digs and 47.0 blocks – both of which are career-highs.
The Academic All-America Teams will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
