TROY, Ala. – With the 2024-25 Troy women's basketball season in full effect, head coach Chanda Rigby and her staff inked two players to the Class of 2025 on Wednesday.
The pair includes a 6-5 center from Rumbek, Serbia, Marianah Mapour, and Lana Koricanac, from Belgrade, Serbia, at 5-11—both hail from Greenforest Christian Academy.
Marianah Mapour | Center | Rumbek, South Sudan | Greenforest Christian Academy
Mapour comes to Troy after just starting her 2024-25 season with Greenforest Christian Academy. In her season debut on Nov. 11, the 6-5 center ended with a double-double. She shot 5-of-9 in the field for 14 points while grabbing 13 rebounds (six offensive) and dishing two assists. She also showed off her defensive abilities with five rejections.
"Marianah is an athletic, long post that is a natural fit for our style of play," Rigby said. "We are excited to get her as a freshman and look forward to developing her."
In 2023-24, Mapour became a champion in the 7A District, where she led Greenforest Christian Academy to a victory over Montgomery County, 39-28. The Columbus native brought her team to a 27-5, 8-0 A D-II Region 7 record, ending on a 15-game winning streak. Greenforest went undefeated on the road at 5-0 while holding an 11-1 record at home.
Lana Koricanac | Guard | Belgrade, Serbia | Greenforest Christian Academy
Koricanac comes to Troy after spending a season with Bella Vista College Prep and ending her high school career at Greenforest Christian Academy the last two seasons. In her junior season, she accumulated a 27-5 record to earn the Class A Division-II State Championship. Outside of high school, she was a member of the Grind Session 2023 World Championship roster.
"Lana is such a skilled guard," Rigby said. "She makes the right pass and shoots the right shot. She will improve our squad in many ways."
In her most recent season, Koricanac stuffed the stat sheets. On the offensive end, she posted 16 points a game with five assists to boost. Meanwhile, defensively, she averaged five rebounds and three steals.
