Women’s Tennis Previews Sun Belt Conference Foes at Bobcat Invitational

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's tennis travels to San Marcos, Texas, to compete in the Bobcat Invitational. Sun Belt Conference opponent Texas State welcomes five teams to the event, which runs from Saturday, Oct. 26 to Sunday, Oct. 27. Matches start at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Troy is set to face off against Texas State, fellow conference mate ULM and other schools around Texas.
"This tournament is a great addition to our fall schedule, and we will have the opportunity to get plenty of quality matches over the weekend," head coach Rawia Elsisi said. "It's exactly what we're looking for mid-way through our fall season."

ITA Southern Regional Recap
The Trojans head into the Bobcat Invitational fresh off the ITA Southern Regional, where they went 4-9 in singles and 1-3 in doubles over three days of play. Maria Guirguis and Leena Metwally advanced to the second round of the main draw.
Guirguis took down ULM's Marium Hatem 6-2, 6-4 in the first round before falling 2-6, 4-6 to SEC opponent Ava Hrastar. In two seasons with the Trojans, Guirguis has posted a 37-24 total singles record, going 14-8 in Sun Belt Conference play.
Metwally continued her fantastic fall by defeating McNeese's Ana Hollweg 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, 6-4 in a tight matchup. She then dropped a 6-3, 6-3 match to LSU player Anita Sahdiieva. The sophomore is 4-1 in singles play heading into the weekend.
Guirguis and Valeriia Avdeeva dominated ULM 8-1 to advance to the second round on the doubles side. Metwally and Hagar Ramadan-Amin received a bye to the second round. However, both teams fell in the next round, with Guirguis and Avdeeva battling before falling to an Auburn pairing 6-8. Metwally and Ramadan-Amin dropped a 3-8 match to a team from Samford.
