TROY, Ala. - The Troy baseball team has its first exhibition of the fall on Friday, as they're set to take on Northwest Florida under the lights at Riddle-Pace Field.
The exhibition will consist of two seven-inning games. The double-header is open to the public, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 5 p.m.
Skylar Meade's first three seasons as head coach have seen the Trojans reach new heights, as his 109 wins are the most in the first three years of a coaching staff in Troy history. In 2024, Troy earned its first national ranking since 2013 at No. 21 and led the Sun Belt Conference with six players on the All-Conference Teams.
Two of those players – Brooks Bryan and Luke Lyon – return this season while the Trojans reloaded the roster with 26 talented newcomers. Transfers Colby Frieda and Noah Edders were named to D1Baseball's Top 85 Impact Transfers while Blake Cavill and Gavin Schrader bring loads of experience at the plate having hit over .300 at their previous schools.
Troy's freshman class packs a punch with a few players already receiving some national attention. Jimmy Janicki was named to Prep Baseball Report's Top 100 Prospects Headed to Campus while Peryn Bland and Drake McBride named to Perfect Game's Top 500 Fresh Arrivals on Campus.
Northwest Florida has earned the reputation as a pipeline for Division I and professional talent, and the Raiders enter the fall coming off a 2024 campaign which saw them finish as the runner-up in the Juco World Series.
The exhibition will mark a reunion for a plethora of Troy players, as four Trojans – Tyler LeJeune, Reid Broussard, Brock Tapper and Blake Cavill – spent their junior college careers at Northwest Florida.
Friday's double-header is the first of two exhibitions for the Trojans this fall, as they're set to head to Jackson, Tenn., to face the defending national champion Tennessee Volunteers on Sunday, October 27.
