TROY, Ala. – In conjunction with its annual Men's Basketball Letterwinners Day, Troy Athletics will honor two of the greatest teams in program history on Saturday, Jan. 27, when the Trojans take on South Alabama. In attendance will be the 1993-94 and the 2003-2004 teams, along with some of the best players to ever don a Troy uniform.
"It's always an exciting opportunity to welcome back former Trojans and their families who have helped pave the way for this program and helped build our rich history and tradition for excellence," head coach Scott Cross said. "I look forward to welcoming and celebrating all the players who have left an impact on Troy Basketball, especially the 1993-94 and 2003-04 conference champion teams that have set the standard for what we want to achieve year in and year out. It's a great opportunity for our players to learn what it means to be a Trojan."
"This is always one of the most favorite games of the year as we welcome back and honor our former great basketball players," Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "We look forward to having an amazing game and celebrating our championship teams."
The Trojans are celebrating the 30th anniversary of 1993-94, who were the East Coast Conference Champions. Leading the way for Troy that season was Cameron Boozer, who averaged 18.6 points and 8.7 rebounds. Chris Williams also added 17.1 points and 6.8 rebounds.
The 2003-2004 team put together an impressive 24-7 record, including an 18-2 record in conference play. The Trojans were the Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Champions and earned a trip to the National Invitational Tournament.
The Trojans had four players average in double-figure scoring, including Greg Davis and his team-high 15.5 points. Rob Lewin was just behind him at 15.4 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds.
All returning basketball letterwinners can receive up to four complimentary tickets to the game and are invited to an exclusive reception with their families and the women's basketball program letterwinners.
They are also invited to sign the Letterwinners Wall located in basketball offices at Trojan Arena.
Letterwinners are asked to RSVP to Stephen Brown via email at rsbrown@troy.edu or by phone at 317-517-9864.
