Troy Women’s Golf Resumes Fall Action with Hoover Invitational

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's golf resumes action Monday morning when it competes in the two-day Hoover Invite at the Hoover Country Club, hosted by UAB.

Located in Hoover, Ala., the Trojans bring a lineup of Laura Fangmeyer, Katelynn Altese, Alyssa Mercado, Samantha Straight and Jillian Friyia to their first Hoover Classic since 2021. They will compete against nine programs, including in-state foes UAB, Samford and North Alabama.

The Trojans head to Hoover after Fangmeyer led a successful opening tournament at the USA Intercollegiate. The sophomore paced the field with a seventh-place finish after totaling seven birdies combined with the eighth fewest bogeys (8).

Overall, the Trojans wrapped up the three-day tournament in seventh, picking up victories to Georgia State and South Alabama. Altese matched Fangmeyer on the tournament's final day to close the week, tied for 31^stwith a 9-over par.

With a return to Hoover, Mercado is the sole Trojan entering with experience after competing in 2021 for a third-place finish. The junior shot a 234 to finish the tournament, tied for 40^th individually.
