"The Cardinal Classic is going to be fun," head coach Josh Lauer said. "There's going to be a great atmosphere to open the season against one of the best teams in the country. That opportunity for our program and players is special. It's been a driving force throughout the spring, summer and preseason that our players are looking forward to. Knowing that they will be playing a few of the marquee teams in the top 25. We look forward to a competitive match with Louisville, Wright State and Washington State. These are all good teams, tournament-tested teams. Being able to be getting to play them will be special for us and our players."

After a standout freshman season, Butler continues to grow off the 2022 season, where she had 382 kills.
