Troy Closes Out Preseason Play Against UAB

TROY, Ala. – After completing its first exhibition game of the season Monday night against Middle Georgia State, the Troy women's soccer team closes out preseason play Saturday as they take on UAB at 5 p.m. at the Troy Soccer Complex.
The Trojans are preparing for their first season with head coach Stuart Gore at the helm. Gore has overhauled the roster, bringing in 16 new players, with only nine returning from last season.
Ending The Preseason Strong
Gore has preached the importance of putting together a strong preseason to prepare the team for its challenging regular season slate. The Trojans had a strong opening performance against Middle Georgia State and look to keep that going as they face off against a tough, division-one, in-state opponent in UAB.
Scouting UAB
• The Blazers had a strong 2022 season, posting a 9-4-5 record.
• UAB made a strong run into the Conference USA tournament but came up short in the quarterfinal game against UTSA. They lost 1-0 in double overtime.
• UAB lost just one game over the course of its final 12 contests.
• The Blazers are in the midst of a large transition to the American Athletic Conference after spending the previous 28 years in the CUSA.
Series History
Troy and UAB have only faced off three times in the school's history, with UAB picking up their first win in 2013. Troy answered back the next season with a win of their own. The two teams last played in 2019, when they tied 1-1.
Troy opens its regular season play on the road in Nashville, Tenn., when they play Lipscomb on Thursday at 6 p.m.
