MARICOPA, Ariz. – Jake Springer shot a 1-under 71 to lead Troy in Saturday's second round of the National Golf Invitational at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. The Trojans slipped four spots into eighth place after shooting 5-over as a team.

Springer did all his work on the back nine after making the turn, even thanks to nine straight pars. He quickly moved to 2-under with birdies on the 12^th and 14^th before back-to-back bogeys pulled his card even. However, Springer birdied the par-3 17^th to finish in the red and move into a tie for 19^th place.

Texas State shot 8-under to climb three spots and into the team lead, 13 shots ahead of the Trojans heading into Sunday's final round. Wyoming slipped into second, while Utah Valley climbed three spots in third.

Nicklas Borrmann is Troy's clubhouse leader, as he's a shot ahead of Springer in a tie for 17^th place after his round of 75 on Saturday, which featured a pair of birdies. Will McFadden moved into a tie for 27^th place after shooting four birdies on the day in a round of even-par golf, while George Burch matched Borrmann's 75 with three birdies; he is tied for 33^rd. Jason Quinlan also shot 3-over on Saturday to find himself in a tie for 49^th place.

Play concludes Sunday with the third and final round. Troy will play alongside Penn State and Washington State, with the first threesome hitting the course at 9:30 a.m. (CT) from the 10^th tee.
