TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball continued to reload its roster on Wednesday with the addition of Leilani Guion, a transfer from Eastern Florida State College, head coach Chanda Rigby announced.
An NJCAA all-state and All-Central Conference first team selection last season, Guion averaged 11.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game as she helped lead the Titans to a region championship and undefeated run through the Central Conference.
"I have watched Leilani progress throughout her basketball career at Eastern Florida State College, where she led her team to its first region championship this season," Rigby said. "She has continued to develop and mature as a player as well as a leader. Her hunger to be great, coupled with her natural athletic ability, will make her a special player at Troy."
Guion's numbers jumped in conference play, where she averaged 12.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for the Titans, who finished the season with a remarkable 33-2 overall record. Eastern Florida State advanced to the NJCAA Final Four before losing on a buzzer-beater in the national semifinals.
A native of Orlando, Fla., the 5-foot-10 guard led the Titans with 13 points in their win over Northwest Florida State in the region title game, which went on to win the national title. Guion was named the Region VIIII Tournament Most Outstanding Player as Eastern Florida State earned a No. 2 seed in the national tournament.
