CONWAY, S.C. – Back-to-back losses for the Troy women's tennis team ends its regular season after a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Coastal Carolina Friday afternoon at the Stevens Tennis Complex.

With two straight losses, the Trojans (13-7, 6-5 SBC) position themselves as the eighth seed entering the postseason, while the Chanticleers (16-7, 8-3 SBC) can potentially move up to third or fall back to sixth depending on the remaining results.

Coastal took the advantage early in doubles, 1-0, as the pairs of Andrea Widing / Valeriia Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis / Franziska Ahrend fell, 6-1, 6-2, respectively.

After Avdeeva dropped her singles match 6-2, 6-1, to put Troy down 2-0, Guirguis took sole ownership of the most wins in 2022-23 for the Trojans with her 18^th victory on court four. After winning 6-2, the freshman finished the job 6-4 in the second, 2-1.

Match point was claimed moments later as courts five, six and two fell for Troy, 5-1. Court five saw Elliott drop 6-2, 6-2 before six had Ahrend end her season on a 6-3, 6-3 loss to award CCU with the match.

Court one saw Kristina Kukaras hold strong to force a tiebreaker set. Following a 6-2 loss in the first set, the junior responded by flipping the score in favor of her. The third set saw Kukaras battle, but it wasn't enough as CCU secured its sixth point, 10-4.
