Track & Field Remains In-State for Crimson Tide Invitational

TROY, Ala. –A weekend at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium awaits the Troy track & field program from April 21-22 as it takes on 16 opposing schools with two meets remaining on the regular season schedule.
The meet begins Friday at noon with the hammer throw event on the women's side, followed by the men to end the day at 6 p.m. Saturday is packed from the beginning with 11 a.m. opening with the women's discus throw and ends with the 4x400m relay at 9:15 p.m.

Kady Schwietz, Biniosa Ezukuse, Ethan Womack and Javon Osbourne were crowned in Samford's Alabama Track Challenge as the Trojans pulled out 11 podium finishes.
Ezukuse and Osbourne continued their winning ways in the throwing events for Troy. In the women's shot put, Ezukuse was the only competitor to rise above the 15-meter mark, peaking on her third throw of 15.34m to win the event. Osbourne had a similar result, being the only thrower above the 55-meter mark. Despite fouling on his first throw, Osbourne rocketed a 56.75m throw on his second for gold.
Standing 5-10, Schwietz shined in clutch fashion for the heptathlon event. After six events, the freshman stood second, 115 points behind in the standings, with the 800m event remaining. Schwietz took over in the 800m, finishing first with a time of 2:24.38 for 765 points, while second's Kyarra Newton claimed 630. The 135-point difference propelled Schwietz to first.
