Men’s Tennis Drops Tennessee State for Sixth Straight Win

NASHVILLE – Troy went on the road for the first time during its winning streak and came away with a 5-1 victory at Tennessee State on Sunday afternoon, playing on Vanderbilt's indoor courts. The Trojans have now won six straight matches, their longest streak in two years, when they finished the 2021 season 20-4.

Carles Anton remained undefeated on the spring with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 win on court two, while Mario Martinez Serrano picked up his sixth straight win with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory on the top court. Troy (6-1) has dominated on the upper courts this year with a combined 12-1 record on courts one and two.

Tennessee State (1-5) entered Sunday's matchup with a victory over Jacksonville State and four losses to SEC opponents on the year.

The Trojans won the doubles point behind wins on courts one and two, including the clinching 7-5 victory from Anton and Jules Fabre on court one.

Noah Martens put the Trojans up 2-0 with Troy's only two-set victory in singles as he won 7-5, 7-6 (3) on court five. Martinez made it a 3-0 lead before the Tigers won on court four for their lone point. Fabre clinched the match in Troy's favor with a 7-6 (7), 4-6, 6-2 win on court three, his third straight win.

Troy is back home Tuesday against Alabama State, with first serve set for 1 p.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
