Women’s Golf Fires Two-Best Rounds of Season at The Atlantic Invitational

BOYTON BEACH, Fla. – Troy fired its two lowest rounds of the season, shooting a combined 5-under par to sit in second place following Monday's opening two rounds of The Atlantic Invitational at the Indian Spring Country Club.

ShaeLee Scarberry and Laura Fangmeyer were in the red in both of their rounds Monday and sit tied for fourth place at 4-under par as both had a round of 1-under 70 and 3-under 68 on the day. Fangmeyer finished the day third in the field with nine total birdies, while Elisabeth Preus added seven and Scarberry had six.

The Trojans are just a shot behind Florida Gulf Coast for first place and have a 1-shot lead over host Florida Atlantic, which is in third place.

Samantha Straight is tied for 21^st place for the Trojans, shooting a 1-voer 143 on the day, which included an eagle on the 460-yard, par-5 seventh during the opening round. She had two birdies in her first round and followed with three in the second round.

Bruna Roqueta is tied for 29^th place after shooting 1-over par in both of her rounds, while Elisabeth Preus is tied for 38^th place at 5-over par and Alyssa Mercado, who is playing as an individual, is in 51^st place.

Troy led the way on the par 4s shooting even as a team, eight shots better than anyone else in the field, while its 29 birdies were the second most by a team on the opening day.

The Trojans will play Tuesday's final round with Florida Atlantic and Florida Gulf Coast beginning at 7:30 a.m. (CT).
