Sofftball Adds Wiregrass Star Taylor Danford

TROY, Ala. – Troy softball head coach Eric Newell announced Wednesday the addition of Taylor Danford from Enterprise to the Trojan roster beginning with the 2024 season.
"We are looking forward to adding Taylor to our already strong 2023 recruiting class," Newell said. "A left-handed bat and a versatile defender, Taylor is a high school shortstop but has shown in camp settings that she can play nearly anywhere on the field. She is a great fit for our program, and we are excited to see how much she grows in her four years at Troy."
An honorable mention all-state selection for Enterprise High School, Danford hit .366 with only three strikeouts in 82 at-bats as a junior for the Wildcats in 2022. As a sophomore, she hit .459 with 32 RBIs and 44 runs scored after batting at a .444 clip with 10 RBIs as a freshman. In 260 career at-bats, Danford has struck out just 20 times (7.7 percent).
She was named the school's defensive player of the year as a sophomore and helped lead Enterprise to a trio of Regional appearances. In addition to her prowess on the diamond, Danford is also a key player on the Enterprise volleyball team, where she earned Super 12 honorable mention honors this past fall.
