Kimani Vidal Named to AP All-America Team

TROY, Ala. – Troy junior running back Kimani Vidal has been named to the Associated Press All-America Third Team following his record-breaking season in which he was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year and MVP of the Sun Belt Championship Game. Vidal becomes Troy's first AP All-American since 2000.

Vidal enters Troy's appearance in the Birmingham Bowl ranked second in the country with 1,582 rushing yards and 13^thwith 14 rushing touchdowns. A native of Marietta, Ga., Vidal broke numerous Troy records this season, setting new benchmarks for career rushing yards, single-season rushing yards, single-game rushing yards, single-season 100-yard rushing games and single-game rushing touchdowns.

Vidal topped the 200-yard mark in three games this season and is responsible for three of the top 15 rushing yardage games at the FBS level this season. On the season's biggest stage, he turned in the biggest game of his career, rushing for 233 yards and five touchdowns in the Sun Belt Championship Game. His five touchdowns were the most ever by a player in an FBS conference championship game and were tied for the most by a player in a game this season.

He has topped the 100-yard mark seven times this season, averaged 8.75 yards-per-carry in three different games and topped the five-yard per carry mark in six games. Vidal averaged 3.57 yards after contact this season and ranks second nationally with 85 forced missed tackles.

Vidal is Troy's first player selected to an All-America Team recognized by the NCAA to determine consensus All-Americans since Leodis McKelvin's inclusion on the Sporting News All-America Team in 2007. He is Troy's first AP All-American since Lawrence Tynes and Tim Betts in 2000.
