Kimani Vidal Named Doak Walker Award Semifinalist

TROY, Ala. – Troy's all-time leading rusher Kimani Vidal has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award, presented annually to the nation's top running back.

A junior from Marietta, Ga., Vidal ranks sixth nationally, averaging 116.4 yards per game and is responsible for two of the top eight rushing games in the country this season, 248 yards against Stephen F. Austin and 245 yards against Arkansas State.

Vidal has rushed for 100 yards in six games this season, tied for the eighth most nationally, and is one of just three backs to top the 200-yard mark twice.

He has already established a pair of Troy records this season and is on the verge of a third. Vidal's 248 yards in the season opener set a new benchmark for a single game in Troy history, while he became Troy's all-time leading rusher during his 124-yard effort against South Alabama. A 58-yard game against Southern Miss in this weekend's regular-season finale will complete the trifecta for Vidal as he will take over the top spot on the single-season rushing list.

Vidal is more than just a rusher, ranking third nationally among running backs in pass blocking per industry leader Pro Football Focus. Troy's fastest player at 22.87 MPH, Vidal is also one of the most physical backs in the country, ranking second nationally with 73 forced missed tackles.

The finalists for the award will be announced Tuesday, Nov. 28, and the winner will be announced during The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 8.
