The Trojans Venture South for Sun Belt Conference Tournament

TROY, Ala. – The Trojans venture south to compete in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Thursday morning at the Foley Sports Complex in Foley, Ala.
Â
Troy (14-12, 12-4 SBC) nabbed the three seed after finishing second in the west division and is slated to play the winner of App State and ULM on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Last week, the Trojans closed their regular season against Georgia Southern, splitting the series.
With the split, Troy earned its best conference record at 12-4 – the previous record held by the 2022 team at 11-5.

Accolades on the Roster
Three Trojans earned All-Conference honors yesterday afternoon. Tori Hester and Julia Brook were named to the All-Sun Belt First Team, while Janelle Stuempfig was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team.

Hester finished the regular season second in the Sun Belt in kills and points. Hester has recorded 277 conference kills, averaging 4.47 per set and 323.5 points, averaging 5.22 per set. Hester ranks 25th nationally in points per set this season, averaging 4.76 points per set.

Brooks, the lone senior on the squad, is the all-time career leader in blocks for the Trojans with 408. She has recorded 258 kills on the season. She has racked up nine matches with a .400 hitting clip or better with seven matches in double figures.

Stuempfig has tallied 654 assists since the start of conference play, averaging 10.55 per set.

Troy saw ULM earlier in the season and won both matches. If ULM advances it would be the third matchup of the season, marking the first time the squads will meet in the conference tournament.

At the end of regular season play, the Warhawk's Logan Jeffus is ninth in the league with a .291 hitting clip. The Warhawks' defense outranks the Trojans' defense slated at number five with 1,018 digs, averaging 16.16 per set.

Maya Winterhoff leads App State (13-14, 4-12 SBC) and ranks third in the league with a .340 hitting clip. Winterhoff also leads the Mountaineers and is 10th in the Sun Belt at the net with 58 blocks, averaging .95 per set.

Defensively, Kenday Roper grabbed the 10th spot in the Sun Belt rankings with 199 digs, averaging 4.23 per set.

App State and Troy are tied in the all-time series at 9-9. If App State advances to the second round, this will be the second time the programs have met in the conference tournament.
