Javon Solomon Named SBC Defensive Player of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a record-setting performance on Saturday, Troy defensive end Javon Solomon has been named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Solomon tied the Troy single-game record with four sacks in the Trojans' 45-14 victory at ULM this past weekend. His total matched Osi Umenyiora's four sacks against Florida A&M in 2002 for the most in program history, and the Tallahassee, Fla., native now has two of Troy's top three single-game sack totals; he had 3.5 in a victory at Southern Miss in 2021.
In addition to his dominance in the backfield, Solomon finished with eight tackles and a quarterback hurry as the Trojans held the Warhawks to just 309 yards of total offense. Solomon's four sacks were part of a nine-sack effort by Troy in the game, tied for the second most by an FBS team this season.
Solomon, who ranks sixth nationally this season with 10 sacks, is third among active FBS players with 27 career sacks and sixth with 42.5 tackles for loss.
Troy hosts Louisiana on Saturday in the regular season home finale; kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at The Vet.
