PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Teams once again battled some of the toughest conditions they've ever faced as 40 mile-per-hour winds battered the Ocean Club Golf Course during Saturday's second round of the White Sands Invitational. Alyssa Mercado paced the Trojans on the day as Troy maintained its ninth-place standing on the leaderboard.

Mercado carded a birdie on the 372-yard, par-4 11^th as she shot 8-over on the day, while Laura Fangmeyer added a birdie on the 475-yard par-5 16^th in her round of 81. Fangmeyer is Troy's clubhouse leader tied for 19^th place at 10-over through the first two rounds, while Mercado is two shots back in a tie for 26^th place.

The course is proving to be challenging for the entire field as golfers posted an average score of 79.60 on Saturday, with only two holes producing double-digit birdies from the field of 63 golfers.

Kansas State holds a 13-shot lead at the top of the team standings as the Wildcats are the only team with two sub-300 rounds; only Kansas State and Grand Canyon shot under 300 on Saturday.

Bruna Roqueta matched Mercado's 80 on Saturday as she is tied for 34^th place, while Katelynn Altese and Samantha Straight are tied for 57^th place. Troy's trio of individuals are within three shots of each other as Brinson Hall is tied for 43^rd place, Jillian Friyia is tied for 49^th and Manya Saini is tied for 52^nd.

Troy will play Sunday's final round along with Eastern Kentucky and Charlotte beginning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
