Women’s Golf Closes Fall Season with White Sands Bahamas Invitational

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's golf heads to Paradise Island in the Bahamas for the White Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational, looking to conclude the fall season on a high note after a fifth-place finish in the Lady Red Wolves Fall Classic.
The Trojans open competition against ten other programs starting Friday at 8 a.m. at the Ocean Club Golf Course. Ocean Club Golf Course has a rich history of hosting events such as the Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational and the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. This three-day event will feature 54 holes throughout the weekend.

Last Time Out
Troy women's golf competed in the Lady Red Wolves Classic a week prior to the Bahamas Invitational. Laura Fangmeyer led the charge, finishing 15th out of 93 golfers and finished plus-5, scoring 221 on four birdies in the final round alone.
Alyssa Mercado followed closely behind by finishing 20th with plus-6 on 11 total birdies and a combined 7-under on the par 5 holes.
First Time for Everything
This will be the first time Troy women's golf travels to the Bahamas, looking to end 2023 on a strong note before continuing play in 2024 with the ASU Spring Classic.
Through the fall season, Mercado, Fangmeyer and Katelynn Altese have made the most appearances (4) with Mercado being the sole top 10 finisher with a second place at the Hoover Invitational. Meanwhile, Bruna Roqueta stands with the best solo round of the fall, shooting a 69 in the final round of the Jupiter Women's Invitational.
