Troy Ventures South to Visit In-State Rival

Troy, Ala. – Troy volleyball ventures up the road, putting its 11-match win streak on the line to face in-state rival South Alabama for a pair of matches set to occur on Thursday and Friday night inside Jaguar gym at 6 p.m. both evenings. The matches will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on TroyTrojans.com.
The Trojans (12-8, 10-0 SBC) made program history with the sweep over ULM by recording an 11-match win streak- the previous streak being nine matches during the 2022 season. With the 11-0 start, Troy remains one of two teams to remain undefeated in Sun Belt conference play (Coastal Carolina).
Last weekend, Tori Hester posted 41 kills, averaging 4.56 per set and eight aces to average 5.56 points per set. Hester has recorded 15 double-figure matches out of the squad's 20 matches. The Trojan offense hit a .200 clip under Janelle Stuempfig's guidance in the ULM sweep.
Amiah Butler and Julia Brooks follow Hester, with 11 and 10 double-figure matches, respectively. The offensive trio combines for 753 kills, combining for a hitting percentage of .246.
Troy continues to check in at the top of the league in conference matches, in hitting percentage and in the ace categories. The Trojans have a .272 hitting clip while recording 70 aces, averaging 1.89 per set since the start of league play.
South Alabama holds a narrow lead over Troy in the all-time series record at 29-31. The last time the Trojans matched up against the Jaguars was in Trojan Arena (10/29), resulting in a sweep for Troy (3-1).
Offensively, Hester posted 47 kills spanning the two matches. Meanwhile, defensively, Jaci Mesa tallied 31 digs and Brooks recorded six blocks.

South Alabama (17-5, 8-2) was handed its first loss of conference play by Texas State (3-1) last weekend. Offensively, the Jaguars are led by Hannah Maddux and Maddie Soboleski, who each tallied 26 kills, averaging 3.71 per set against Texas State.
Paige Lynn led the league last week with 40 digs, averaging 5.71 per set. The South Alabama defense checks in at the league's top spot in conference matches only in the dig category, averaging 17.24 per set.
