TROY, Ala. – While all games count the same in the standings, some just mean more, and that can be said for the annual "Battle for the Belt" showdown between Troy and South Alabama. This year's installment will be held at The Vet on Nov. 2 in front of a national televised audience on ESPN2, and Troy Athletics announced Tuesday a Defend The Vet campaign for the game.
"We are calling on Troy fans and college football fans far and wide to be at The Vet on Nov. 2 for the 'Battle for the Belt,'" Troy Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "The Troy and South Alabama game is one of college football's best rivalries, and we need the environment in The Vet to be electric for the nationally televised audience. We are holding nothing back from the fan experience, with in-game fireworks to honoring Carlton Martial and a Four Quarter Party for students."
Troy already announced the game will be Carlton Martial Day at The Vet to celebrate the NCAA's all-time leading tackler, where he will serve as the honorary captain and the first 5,780 fans will go home with a free Carlton Martial poster.
Additionally, the following ticket specials are in place for the game; tickets can be purchased by calling 877-878-WINS (9467) or online at TroyTrojans.com/FBTickets.
