Troy Sweeps Men’s Tennis Doubleheader from AUM

TROY, Ala. – Troy opened the home portion of its spring men's tennis schedule Friday with a pair of victories over AUM at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The Trojans won the opener by a 6-1 margin and took the afternoon session in a 5-2 decision.

In the morning match, Troy took the doubles point thanks to victories on courts one and two. On the top court, Carles Anton and Mario Martinez Serrano battled back from a 5-4 deficit to win the final three points and clinch the point. Francisco Erramuspe and Yeray Andres Pastor opened the match with a 6-3 win on court two.

In singles, Troy won five of the six matches, with four coming in straight sets. Erramuspe and Vito Llinares cruised to wins on courts six and five, yielding a combined 10 games, to give the Trojans a 3-0 advantage, while Anton remained undefeated on the year with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court two.

Martinez won, 6-4, 6-1, on court one to give the Trojans a 5-0 lead before the teams split super tiebreakers on courts three and four, with Andres Pastor winning 10-8 for the Trojans.

In the afternoon match, Anton, Martinez, Erramuspe and Llinares all won in straight sets in singles, while Llinares and Anton teamed up for a 6-2 doubles victory, and Martinez paired with Pastor for a win on court one.

The Trojans return to the Lunsford Tennis Complex to host West Alabama on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
