Women’s Golf to Open 2022-23 Schedule at USA Intercollegiate

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University women's golf team is set to open the 2022-23 schedule this weekend when they travel to Mobile, Ala., to participate in the USA Intercollegiate hosted by South Alabama.
The Trojans are rolling out a young group this season as the 2022-23 version of Troy has just two seniors and three upperclassmen on the roster. Head coach Randy Keck has brought in five freshmen for the new campaign.
"We are very excited about this team," head coach Keck said. "We are headed to this first tournament with a very, very young lineup. It will be a fantastic opportunity for our young players to step up early on in their college careers.
The opening tournament in Mobile will be played at Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove and features many south region foes, including five Sun Belt Conference opponents. Arkansas State, Georgia State, Louisiana Monroe, Southern Mississippi, and South Alabama are all in attendance.
Troy finished eighth at the USA Intercollegiate last September and third among teams from the Sun Belt Conference. Shaelee Scarberry paced the Trojans and shot a 220, which placed her at four over par. The Trojans finished 19 over par with an 883 overall effort.
"We have several players that have won state amateur championships, high school state championships, so winning is nothing new to this group. We just have to step up and take care of our business."
