Softball Sets Fall Schedule

TROY, Ala. – First-year Troy University softball head coach Eric Newell has announced an eight-game home fall schedule on Tuesday that is set to begin on September 25.
"The fall schedule does a lot for us," said Newell. " It lets us compete against an opponent other than ourselves, and it will allow our coaching staff to really learn our players. Also, since we play all two-year schools this fall, it gives us a chance to see some quality junior college teams right here in our own backyard.
Each of Troy's eight games will be played as part of a doubleheader and will all feature games against junior college opponents. The Trojans capped off a 2022 season with 31 victories, including a formidable 19-7 record at the Troy Softball Complex.
The fall schedule will kick off on September 25, and the Trojans will host Wallace State Community College-Hanceville in the first game of a doubleheader. Game two will feature a showdown with Marion Military Institute.
Troy will then pivot to another JUCO doubleheader as the Trojans will welcome Northwest Florida State College and Southern Union State Community College on October 2. The first game against the Raiders will begin at 1:45 p.m. before closing out the day against Southern Union at 4 p.m.
A pair of schools from the sunshine state will travel to Troy on October 9 as Gulf Coast State College will face the Trojans at noon before Troy wraps up the doubleheader against Tallahassee Community College at 3 p.m.
The fall calendar will conclude after a two-week break from Sunday softball on October 23 when Troy welcomes Enterprise State Community College for an 11:30 a.m. showdown. The Trojans will end the fall schedule with a 1:45 p.m. game against Pearl River Community College.
