Women's Tennis Concludes Regular Season with Senior Day Affair

TROY, Ala. - The Troy Women's Tennis team concludes its regular season against the Carolina teams (Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State) at the Lunsford Tennis Complex while honoring Michelle Ncube and Anastasiia Khokhlova on Senior Day. Â
The Trojans (8-11, 3-5 SBC) kick off the final weekend at Lunsford on Saturday against the Chanticleers (11-7, 6-2 SBC). Then, Troy honors its seniors with a battle set against the Mountaineers (5-11, 3-4 SBC) on Sunday - both matches set for 10 a.m.Â
Troy looks to claim its most wins (10) since the 2018-19 season, with the team's second double-digit win season in six years.Â
Feeling All the EmotionsÂ
Troy split its weekend series for the third consecutive week against South Alabama and Arkansas State.Â
USA proved to be too much for Troy, sweeping the Trojans, 4-0.Â
Down 3-0, Kristina Kukaras battled tough to keep the Trojans alive, winning her first set 6-2. However, despite the gritty effort, the following two sets didn't go the sophomore's way, dropping straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to lose match point.Â
Hagar Amin shined against the Red Wolves on Saturday, going 2-0 in the match. In doubles competition, Amin partnered up with Michelle Ncube to win their match, 6-3, despite the team dropping the point, 1-0.Â
With the match tied 3-3, Amin was clutch for the Trojans in singles. The freshman dominated her first set 6-1 before allowing the opposing Red Wolf to blank her 6-0. Then, in the extra set, Amin took control, winning the match for Troy, 4-3, in the extra set, 6-1.Â
Clashing with the ChanticleersÂ
Coastal ventures into Lunsford, having defeated Troy in the last three meetings and looking to secure a top-four spot in the standings.Â
The Chanticleers look to their three-headed monster of Anna Babayan, Jesse Hollins and Paola Landin Lopez in singles competition with a combined 14-2 record in conference play.Â
Senior Sun-DayÂ
App State sits sixth in the league standings, hoping to continue its two-match winning streak over the Bayou State teams (Louisiana, UL-Monroe).Â
In singles competition, Erika Dodrige and Helena Jansen enter Sunday on a five-match win streak, combining for a 26-15 record. The team aims to survive doubles against Troy, sitting at 20-33.
