Trojans Host Georgia State for a Weekend Series

TROY, Ala. – A pivotal Sun Belt series comes to Riddle-Pace Field this weekend as the Trojans play host to Georgia State beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
Both programs enter the weekend tied in the conference standings at 10-8, and both have dropped the last two Sun Belt series.

The Trojans and Panthers have seen each other every year, dating back to 2014. Troy holds a 37-15 record overall while being 20-4 on their home turf. It was a 32-run affair that Georgia State came out on top of the last time these two teams met.
Coming off a big win during the mid-week against Georgia Tech, Troy will look to keep the momentum going as Rigsby Mosley gets set to make his first-weekend start in front of the home fans on Saturday. Garrett Gainous will look for his sixth win of the season on Friday, and Brady Fuller will go for his second consecutive quality start on Sunday.
A pair of Trojans look to continue to get on base as both Jesse Hall and Easton Kirk have set new career highs during their senior seasons in reaching base, with Hall getting on in 13 straight games and Kirk seeing base in 14 straight.
With four RBIs against the Yellow Jackets, William Sullivan became the sixth different Trojan to have a four-RBI game this season. Troy also sees four different players record eight multi-RBI games this year. Donovan Whibbs, who leads the team in batting average (.311), Kirk leads the team in home runs (7), and Hall leads the team in RBIs (32); all have eight multi-RBI games.
On the mound for the Panthers, Trey Horton, Cameron Jones, and Mason Patel are set to start this weekend, with Jones getting his first start of the season and Patel his second.
Hitting .291 as a team, Georgia State brings in the second-highest batting average in the conference, but a 5.21 team earned run average; they sit in seventh in the category. Outfielder Max Ryerson leads the Panthers in doubles, home runs, and runs batted in.
