Ice in Our Veins
After Troy found itself down 3-1 through the first four points, Michelle Ncube, Hagar Amin and Olivia Elliott found another gear, lifting Troy in three straight matches - all went to an extra set.
Ncube was down after losing her first set 2-6 to Mae McCutcheon. Then, in the second set, Ncube came out swinging with a 6-2 victory. Finally, in the last set, Ncube brought Troy within one, 3-2, with another 6-2 win.
Later, Elliott continued the trend after falling behind 2-6 in the first. The second set saw Elliott triumph with a 6-2 victory over Maria Lora. However, the England native couldn't finish the point despite winning 7-6. Going into the tiebreaker, Elliott tied the match, 3-3, in a 7-4 victory.
With the match all knotted up, Amin finished the comeback in an extra set. The freshman split the first two sets, 6-3, 4-6, before narrowing out a 7-6 win to force the tiebreaker set. Going back-and-forth with Sofia Fortuno, Amin proved to be too much, winning the match for Troy, 4-3, in a 7-5 victory.
