Trojans Stumped in Arlington

ARLINGTON, TX. -Fresh off a clutch victory to Texas State, Troy came up short of the Lone Star state sweep on Sunday, falling to UT-Arlington at the UTA Tennis Center, 4-0.
The Trojans' (7-10, 2-4 SBC) two-game-win streak in Sun Belt play came to a halt, ending the longest winning streak in league play since the 2018-19 season.
Going Down Early
UTA (16-1, 5-0 SBC) came out of the gates strong against the Trojans in doubles competition to capture the 1-0 lead.
Kristina Kukaras/Michelle Ncube fell early against Ana Paula Jimenez/Momoka Horiguchi in the first match, 6-3.
Olivia Elliott/Franziska Ahrend battled with Carla Pons/Sarina Reinertsen, tying their match 4-4. Unfortunately, on court one, Anastasiia Khokhlova/Andrea Widing couldn't capture the victory, falling 6-4 and leaving the Elliott/Ahrend match unfinished.
Clean Sweep
Singles competition went the same way for Troy as Hagar Amin dropped the second point against Tara Gorinsek, 6-3, 6-2.
On court six, Ahrend fought with her opposing Maverick in her first set despite falling 6-4. In the second set, the senior was swept, 6-0, giving the Mavericks the 3-0 lead.
Khokhlova was the final piece to fall, getting swept in her first set, 6-0, before losing the second 6-3. This loss provided UTA with match point as they continue its undefeated streak to start the conference season.
