TROY, Ala. - After splitting the Peach State swing at Lunsford this past weekend, 1-1, Troy travels west to Texas to face Texas State and UT-Arlington, with both matches set for 10 a.m.
Â
On Saturday, the Lonestar state battle opens against the Bobcats (4-10, 1-3 SBC) at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. Next, the Trojans (6-9, 1-3 SBC) head to the UTA Tennis Center on Sunday to face the Mavericks (14-1, 3-0 SBC).
Â
Troy looks to get things rolling in conference play after claiming its first SBC win of the season over Georgia Southern, 4-2. The team enters the Lonestar State, having defeated both teams in their last two meetings.
Â
Down the Middle
The Trojans walked away from the opening round of the Peach State swing on Saturday with their third-straight loss to Georgia State, 4-2.
Â
Troy lost three straight in singles to fumble the match despite claiming the lead, 1-0, winning doubles competition. Hagar Amin aimed to put Troy in rhythm, putting Troy back on the board, but it was too late as Kristina Kukaras lost match point.
Â
It was a tale of two matches, as the Trojans flipped the script, starting Sunday down 0-1 before rattling off three victories in singles.
Â
Amin finished the weekend 2-0, securing the first conference win of the season, 4-2, over the defending champions in Georgia Southern.
Â
Battle with the Bobcats
Texas State enters Saturday on a three-match losing streak, including two against Sun Belt opponents in Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State.
Â
After getting swept by App State, 4-0, the Bobcats look to Hana Kvapilova to lead them to their first conference win of the season, sitting atop the team standings at 8-5 in singles. Overall, the team sits a lowly 7-22 in doubles.
Â
Mounting the Mavericks
UTA sits atop the SBC through the start of conference play at 3-0, riding a five-match winning streak - three against conference opponents.
Â
Tara Gorinsek and Sarina Reinertsen enter the weekend undefeated in singles matches, combining for a 16-0 record. The Mavericks' weak link is doubles competition, despite still sitting above .500 at 14-10.
