Men's Basketball Tips Off Roman College Basketball Invitational Against Abilene Christian

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Troy Men's Basketball opens its Roman College Basketball Invitational journey in the opening round against the No. 6-seed Abilene Christian at the Daytona Beach Center on Sunday - tip-off set for 6:30 p.m.
The Trojans (20-11, 10-6 SBC) end a five-year drought in postseason play on Sunday, competing in the program's second-ever CBI - first was in the 2008-09 season.
Sunday marks the first meeting between the two programs as Troy searches for its 21st win of the season - third 20-win season since joining the Sun Belt Conference.

Exiting the SBC
Troy's historic season went all the way to the Sun Belt Tournament Semifinal round to face Louisiana.
Khalyl Waters exploded in scoring, leading the team with 19 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and 9-of-11 from the charity stripe.
Unfortunately, things didn't fall the Trojans' way offensively, shooting 32.7 percent from the field and 19 percent from the 3-point line.
Despite heroic efforts from Waters, Duke Deen and Duke Miles, scoring 17 points in the final seven minutes to trim the deficit, Troy exited the tournament with a 66-57 final.
WAC Runner-up
Abilene Christian entered the Western Atlantic Conference tournament as the No. 6-seed. After defeating Utah Valley, 82-74 in the first round, the Wildcats made a Cinderella run, upsetting the No. 3-seed SFA, 76-62, and No. 2-seed Seattle, 78-76, to battle for the title.
No. 1-seed New Mexico State snapped the Wildcat's run, defeating them in the championship game, 66-52, as ACU shot 32.7 percent from the field.
ACU enters the CBI with the best defense in the nation in terms of steals, averaging 11 per game. They also lead the nation in turnover margin at 9 - second is Eastern Kentucky at 5.8.
Airion Simmons (11.8), Coryon Mason (11.6) Mahki Morris (11) have been a three-headed monster for the Wildcats as all three average 11 or more points per game. Simmons gets the job done on the board in addition to his scoring, leading the team with 5.6 rebounds.
