Trojans Look to Keep it Rolling at Tiger Track Classic

TROY, Ala. - Coming off an impressive outdoor opener last week at the Jaguar Opener, Troy Track and Field continues this weekend in the Tiger Track Classic at the Hutsell-Rosen Track.
The Tiger Track Classic has the Trojans pitted against 15 different rosters (Auburn, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Brewton-Parker, Florida State, Fort Valley State, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, Point University, South Alabama, South Carolina, Tallahassee CC, Thomas University, William Carey).
The Trojans kick off on Friday at 2 p.m. with the men's hammer throw before wrapping up in the men's 5000-meter at 8:05 p.m. Then, women's pole vault opens Saturday at 11 a.m., with men's 4x400-meter concluding the meet at 4:35 p.m.

Starting Strong
Troy opened the outdoor season on top with the men's team winning, 163-159, over South Alabama while the women came away third.
Sun Belt Track Athlete of the Week, Reuben Dotson, came away with two key victories on Saturday. Dotson started in the men's 800-meter, winning over fellow Trojan Sindeley Dorsainvil with a time of 1:57.15.
Later, Dotson joined Bela Karn, Martinez Bogan and Jordan McCleskey in the 4x400-meter relay as the third leg. Together, they came away with the gold over USA, winning with a 3:22.10 time.
On the women's side, Donisha Jeanty (1st - 59.96), Zakeria Staples (2nd - 1:00.96) and Le'nai Hunter (3rd - 1:05.59) pulled off a Trojan podium sweep in the women's 400-meter.
Turn Back the Clock
Matthew Likely, Gemma Finch and Jasmine Riley led Troy last year at the Tiger Track Classic, finishing with five top-five finishes.
Finch and Macki Walsh were the only Trojans that hoisted the gold as Finch topped the women's 800-meter with a 2:07.67. Walsh beat fellow Trojan Gracie Booher in the women's 500-meter by 15 seconds (17:14.73 - 17:29.69).
