TROY, Ala. -Â Troy secures the No. 11 seed in the Roman College Basketball Invitational with a first-round matchup set against No. 6-seed Abilene Christian. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Daytona Beach Center.
Â
"We are extremely excited about the opportunity to play Abilene Christian in the first round of the Roman College Basketball Invitation," head coach Scott Cross said. "ACU is a very well-coached basketball team that plays extremely hard. They are very disruptive defensively, leading the country in turnovers forced per game. We know that every postseason basketball game will be tough and that there are no easy games, so we will just have to find a way to be the toughest team."
Â
The Trojans (20-11, 10-6 SBC) snap a five-year streak without a postseason bid on Sunday as the program enters the CBI for the second time - last bid came in the 2008-09 season.
Â
The opening round matchup against the Wildcats (23-10, 11-7 WAC) marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Â
Defensive play will be a point of emphasis as both teams are ranked in the top-75 nationally in steals per game - Troy (54th - 7.9), ACU (2nd - 11).Â
Â
All-Sun Belt First Team member, Efe Odigie, leads the Trojans into battle after heading the team in scoring with 11.6 points while posting 6.6 rebounds per game.
Â
ACU looks to its three-headed monster in Airion Simmons (11.8), Coryon Mason (11.6) and Mahki Morris (11) to propel them to the second round with their ability to average above double figures in scoring.
Â
The Wildcats had a Western Atlantic Conference championship in sight before falling to the No. 1-seed New Mexico State, 66-52, on 32.7 percent shooting.

Tickets can be purchased from Ticketmaster by searching Roman College Basketball Invitational.
