Troy Women's Tennis Claims Its First Victory in the Home Opener

TROY, Ala. - Following a 4-0 start, Troy walks away victorious for the first time this season, 5-2, over Alabama State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
The Trojans (1-2) open their home schedule with a victory for the fourth straight season while the Hornets (0-2) still search for their first victory.
Ran Away Early
The Trojans couldn't have started the match any better, going up 4-0 for their largest lead of the season.
In doubles competition, Chiara Dabrano / Franziska Ahrend made quick work of their opponents, 6-1, before Andrea Widing / Anastasiia Khokhlova clinched the first point, 6-3.
Singles competition saw Troy seize the following three-straight points in dominating fashion as Kristina Kukaras (6-0, 6-1), Michelle Ncube (6-1, 6-4) and Hagar Amin (6-1, 6-3) all won their matches to lead 4-0.
Amin clinched the match and Troy's first victory of the season after defeating Francesca Duca, 6-1 and 6-3.
No Sweep in Troy
Despite already being handed the loss, the Hornets battled back after finding themselves down 4-0 with a victory by Sahra Bouchaala, 6-2 and 6-3, over Khokhlova.
Franziska Ahrend fired back with the Trojans' fifth point after beating Timothee Legaud, 6-3 and 6-2, extending the Trojans' lead back to four.
Heading into the final match, Bea Acena quickly won the first set, 6-2. However, Olivia Elliot wasn't finished, battling back to win the second set 6-3 to send it to a third.
Despite Elliot having the lead early, Acena bounced back to complete the point for Alabama State to make the final score, 5-2.

The Trojans head back to the Sunshine state to battle against the Rattlers of Florida A&M on Saturday at the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex - scheduled for 10 a.m.
