Troy Women's Tennis Falls to the Hatters

DELAND, Fla. - Despite taking the first point of the match, Troy loses to Stetson, 5-2, in the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center after dropping three straight points.
The Trojans (0-2) start the season winless in their first two matches for the first time since the 2017-18 season - the team started 0-6, while the Hatters (5-0) continue their perfect start to the season.
Falling Late
Down 2-1 after Andrea Widing and Michelle Ncube fell in their singles match, Kristina Kukaras breathed life back into the Trojans.
Kukaras quickly won the first set over Cheri Darley, 6-1, before completing an impressive 6-4 victory to tie the match 2-2.
The following three points fell in favor of the Hatters despite the Trojans battling every step of the way.
Anastasiia Khokhlova was the first to fall in a close battle with Nadejda Maslova, 7-5 and 6-4, giving the Hatters the advantage, 3-2.
Next, Hagar Amin dropped the fourth and match-winning point to Alanna DiFrancesco after losing both sets, 6-4 and 6-2.
Starting Strong
The Trojans started the match on top, seizing their first point of the season after winning the doubles competition, 2-1.
Despite getting swept in the first match of doubles as Darly / Maslova defeated Amin / Olivia Elliott, 6-0, the Trojans dominated the following two doubles to lead 1-0.
It started with Ncube / Kukaras making quick work of Noa Cohen / Amais Gabriel, 6-0, leaving it up to the third match.
Despite Elodie Foster / DiFrancesco battling back, Widing / Khoklova finished doubles on top, winning 6-4 and securing the point for Troy.
