Kuessner Claims High Jump Title at Sun Belt Championships

Birmingham, Ala. - Sophomore Maja Kuessner wrapped up day one of the Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships by finishing first in the women's high jump Monday night from the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Rostock, Germany native, had a jump of 1.78m with a conversion of 5-10 to finish with 10 points, two more than the second-place finisher.
Kuessner saved her best performance for last as her 1.78m leap was the highest of the season after clearing 1.68m on two different occasions earlier in the year.
Other Trojans competing include Edita Sklenska, who finished in third in the women 800m prelims which will wrap up with the 800m finals tomorrow on day two.
Troy saw two other top 10 finishes as well, with Caroline Sall finishing in ninth in the women's 5000m with a time of 18:37.04, and in the women's distance medley Tanner Guest, Reagan McCall Courtny Wilmington, and Lauren Locke ran a 12:34.96 giving them a top 10 finish to close out the night.
