TROY, Ala. – Four-year letterwinner with the track and field program, Abby Grosinske, was named Troy's recipient of the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarship, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
"Abby is a great recipient for this award," director of track & field / cross country Marc Davis said. "She has always gone above and beyond what is needed to be a good athlete and an even better person. I couldn't think of anyone better to receive this honor.
A Troy University graduate of Spring 2025, Grosinske earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science with a minor in psychology. In the fall of 2025, she will attend Northern Illinois University to pursue a doctorate degree in physical therapy.
From Whitewater, Wisc., Grosinske has competed for Troy via the hammer, discus, shot put, and weight throw events. During her final campaign, she peaked in the hammer throw with a 51.34m toss at the Doc Anderson Invitational for silver – her mark of 12.83m in the shot put also earned her fourth. In her four-year career, she competed in 60 meets through the indoor and outdoor seasons with 18 top-five finishes.
Her top placement has been second on five occasions, including twice during Grosinske's fourth season in the hammer throw when she earned a 50.45m mark at the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational. The thrower capped off her career with two 12th-place finishes in the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships in the shot put (12.49m) and hammer throw (49.47m) events. Gronsinske also ended her career with the eighth best (Carolina Challenge – 2022) for indoor and sixth best for outdoor (Sun Belt Outdoor Championships – 2023) throws in Troy program history in the shot put event, throwing a 13.50m and 13.74m, respectively.
The scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes with stated intentions to pursue a graduate degree following the completion of their undergraduate requirements and are sent directly to the graduate school of each recipient's choice. The recipients were selected by the Sun Belt Postgraduate Scholarship Committee, which is comprised of Faculty Athletic Representatives from across the conference.
To be eligible for Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarships, nominees must have exhausted eligibility, been declared or designated a varsity letter winner in a Sun Belt-sanctioned sport at a member institution for at least two seasons and achieved a minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale).
