Men's Tennis Splits Opening Two Matches at HEB Invitational

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Troy split its opening two matches of the HEB Invitational Friday at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. The Trojans knocked off DePaul 4-0 in the opening round match before dropping a thriller, 4-3, to UTSA in the semifinals.
Carles Anton continued his dominant spring, improving to 9-2 in singles, winning both his singles matches on the day. Troy took home the doubles point in the opening match thanks to a thrilling tiebreak victory from Anton and Pelayo Antuna on court three and followed with three singles wins.
In the semifinal match against the Roadrunners, who are a top 50 team in the country, the Trojans won three singles matches, and two of their three losses on the singles courts came in three sets.
The Trojans take on East Tennessee State, which ranks among the nation's top 70 teams, Saturday at 9 a.m. in the third place match.
