Volleyball Heads for Third Straight NIVC Appearance; Will Host for Second Consecutive Year

TROY, Ala. – A historic 2022 volleyball season continues for Troy volleyball as they have been invited to compete in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) Tournament, officials announced Sunday night.
This will be the third consecutive year the Trojans have qualified for the NIVC, and the second straight year the Trojans have hosted the Tournament from Trojan Arena.
Joining Troy will be UT-Martin, Southern Miss, and in-state foe Alabama State. The tournament kicks off December 1 with Southern Miss and Alabama State at 3 p.m. CT followed by the Trojans facing off with UT-Martin at 6 p.m. CT. The winners will then square off on Friday, December 2, at 5 p.m. CT.
"We are excited to host the NIVC here in Trojan Arena for the second year in a row," head coach Josh Lauer said. "This is a great opportunity for our team to continue building a championship culture and for our fans to support us at home during an extremely fun week for Troy athletics. I'm also excited that our seniors get another chance to play in Trojan Arena and for our players to experience postseason volleyball."
Troy heads into postseason play finishing the regular season 18-12 and 11-5 in conference play. The 11 wins in conference play were the most wins in program history as Lauer became the first coach in program history to lead the Trojans to four consecutive winning seasons while matching a program-high nine-game win streak.
The 2022 NIVC features Round 1 and 2 action from Dec. 1-5, with Round 3 scheduled for Dec. 6-8. The semifinals will be held Dec. 8-11, and the championship match is slated for Dec. 11-13.
